Here’s A Complete List Of Movie Release Dates For 2019
Posted by Jade Nicolette on 1st Jan 2019
Happy New Year from all of us here at Nerd Kung Fu! For many of us, 2018 seemed to whiz by, and we’re excited for the new possibilities ahead in 2019. With huge blockbuster titles on deck to be released, this year is packed to the brim with highly anticipated movies. For most of us geeks, we’re already buzzing with excitement for the upcoming release of Captain Marvel on March 8th, followed by the wildly hyped follow up to Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame on April 26th. While we can’t wait to find out more about Carol Danvers, many fans are also wondering about how Ant Man is coping with being stuck in the Quantum Realm. And while many fans are still reeling about the losses from Thanos’ snap, we’re all shaking with anxiety about the fate of our heroes in Avengers: Endgame.

Disneyholics, fear not, there are also a wide variety of live action movies coming soon. A new adaptation of the beloved animated classic, Dumbo is set to be released end of March. Directed by Tim Burton, the film is slated to be a darker version of the original tale, and also stars Colin Farrell, Eva Green and Danny DeVito. In May, the Mouse House will release Aladdin, followed by much talked-about remake of The Lion King in July. Last month, Entertainment Weekly revealed a first look at director Guy Ritchie’s upcoming new version of Aladdin. The film has sparked controversy after supposedly putting makeup on Caucasian actors to act as brown skinned extras, and Twitter wasn’t exactly receptive to seeing actor Will Smith as the Genie. Regardless, Aladdin remains a beloved Disney classic for many millennials, and the movie is bound to generate large traction at the box office.

As for The Lion King, the hype is real for the return to Pride Rock. To date, the official trailer from Walt Disney Studios has amassed over 57 million views, and the live-action film is also slated to be a massive hit this year. Although the upcoming film is widely anticipated, there has been some debate over whether or not the film should actually be considered “live-action” or not. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney’s Film Production Chief, Sean Bailey, has noted that the movie employs techniques from traditional animation and live action film-making. Bailey also promised that The Lion King will not be a shot-for-shot remake of the beloved animated classic, as well.
Throughout the rest of the year, there are plenty of sequels and reboots slated for the silver screen. As self-professed movie addicts, we decided to take a moment and put together a comprehensive list of all the biggest movie release dates for 2019. With a slew of reboots in the works, this year also has a fair share of sequels on the horizon. Stay tuned for more nerd news and all things pop culture on our blog!
