The group first got started by George Clinton, alongside other musicians like Frankie and Richard Boyce, Langston Booth and members of the Parliaments. In 1970, the group first released their debut album, entitled Funkadelic. For years, Funkadelic has continued to create innovative sounds, pushing the envelope for the genre of funk as a whole. With albums like Free Your Mind... and Your Ass Will Follow (1970), Maggot Brain (1971), America Eats Its Young (1972), and Cosmic Slop (1973), Funkadelic has paved the way for future artists to contribute to the funk genre. Throughout the seventies, the group continued to release albums like Standing on the Verge of Getting It On (1974) and Let's Take It to the Stage (1975). A year later, the group released Tales of Kidd Funkadelic (1976) and Hardcore Jollies (1976), followed by One Nation Under a Groove (1978) and Uncle Jam Wants You (1979). In the eighties, Funkadelic dropped albums like Connections & Disconnections (1980) and The Electric Spanking of War Babies (1981). The group’s most recent work includes By Way of the Drum (2007), Toys (2008) and First Ya Gotta Shake the Gate (2014). Feet don’t fail me now!
