I should just have this tattooed to my chest.
Weird. I just looked at www.aficionado.com and it came up with some site that sells cigarette lighters. I'm really not sure how that connects, unless there is such a thing as a lighter aficionado. I won't link the site, as I have probably sucked down two packs a day in contact smoke (thank you, loving family) and refuse to do anything that could promote more smoking. Instead I will link Aficionado, some kind of band out of Albany, NY. They appear to have eight members and look a lot like hipsters trying to be hippies, so I am going to avoid listening to them at all costs. I am willing to bet a drum circle has played prominently in their past at some point.
This shirt is turning out to be tougher than I thought it would be. Every time I try to look up something about a pop culture aficionado I get some guy claiming to be or is acclaimed by some idiots. He is always someone I've never heard of and kind of looks like a moron of one type or another.
I guess the best thing I can do is talk about the greatest pop culture aficionado I have ever met: me. My name is Dave, I am too old to be playing video games and reading comic books yet still do, and on my blog I give dating advice to nerd guys based on my own fairly painful dating experience. I am a great guy, modest, and a font of pop culture trivia. I am currently single, and want to find a sexy-nerdy girl to date who is OK with me working on my t-shirt selling website until 2am every night.
That last paragraph felt surprising good to write. I better get rejected by a girl soon or my ego may grow to alarming proportions. The good news is something like that is usually not long in coming.
A lot of articles seems to want to say pop culture has no value and is potentially corrupting our children. Here is a video on the value of pop culture by some guy who seems to be against pop culture on the whole. He seems well spoken and thought out, but he really needs some better production values. Dude, if you want to be taken seriously in video, put on a shirt with sleeves and sit in a room that resembles an office, not in front of the hedge in your back yard.
Wow. I was trying to find a video that was pro-pop culture and stumbled upon this little gem. I think it's a band called Creature doing a song called Pop Culture. They are definitely pop, with a healthy dash of surreality. It's been a while since I saw an 80's style music video like that. I like it, even if the music kind of gives me gas.
