As most nerds know Star Trek is a classic sci fi show that ran 3 seasons from 1966 to 1969 and featured the adventures of the USS Enterprise of the United Federation of Planets as they explored strange new worlds, sought out new life and new civilizations, and boldly went where no man has gone before.
Featuring the intrepid, dashing, and (according to any number of green women) sexy Captain Kirk, the logical and very cool science office Mr. Spock, and the dour and sarcastic Dr. McCoy the crew found themselves on new planets, virtual realities, space battles, and alien spaceships. The show is credited with inventing the cell phone, tablets, computer voice recognition, and video conferencing.
The show was very into the social issues of the time and had shows on nuclear war, racism, social injustice, totalitarianism, and gender equality (the didn't do particularly well on that last issue but they tried).
